Manual Handling TrainingOur training courses for the healthcare industry are based on the Manutention method of manual handling. The method is based on principles that are universally accepted as "best practice" - neutral spines, keep the load close, movement of the feet, which is relevant to today’s risk management and ‘no-lift’ approach for manual handling. Training sessions are facilitated by our Registered Physiotherapists who have extensive experience in health care, aged care and disability/special needs sectors. We aim to provide participants with knowledge and understanding of their movements and general principles, which are applicable when moving and handling patients, clients or loads. Depending on your requirements, we have an introductory session (2 hours) or a more comprehensive session (3 hours). Both sessions cover relevant OHS legislation, anatomy, manual handling postures and principles (rationale, theory and practical) and self management strategies in order to minimise musculoskeletal sprain and strain injuries. Sessions will be tailored to suit your requirements. For example, we provide the 3 hour training session to nursing staff in hospitals or aged care facilities for new staff inductions or as part of an ongoing training program. Some clients select the 2 hour session as a part of an ‘annual’ refresher program or for induction of new ancillary/indirect staff. Please contact us to discuss your requirements. |
