Our workstation assessments can be provided for a single employee, a particular work group or for the whole organisation. We can also provide ‘walk through’ checks which are provided to assist employees to setup their workstations following relocation, renovation or refit. Our assessments aim to increase the awareness of workstation safety, attempt to break "bad" habits which staff may adopt, as well as promote self-reliance in the management of personal health. All assessments are performed by experienced Physiotherapists or Occupational Therapists who complete individual checklists for each staff member assessed before producing a report. The report is tailored to meet your requirements and can be generic, highlighting recommendations and key issues or alternatively, the report can be more detailed. We can also assist with implementation of recommendations including the trial and purchase of ergonomic equipment. A standard workstation assessment, which takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes, tends to be preventative and proactive in nature. Typically, the employees are not experiencing any symptoms or have minor complaints only and the assessment aims to ensure that their workstation is set up correctly to prevent injury. Our therapists will review the individual and their workstation, identify any issues, modify where necessary their workstation to minimise risk of injury and provide recommendations in terms of self management strategies and safe working practices. A specialist workstation assessment tends to be requested for individuals who have an existing condition, prior injury or are displaying work-related symptoms. A more comprehensive assessment and report therefore may be required. This assessment takes approximately one hour and our therapist will assess the staff member, their key tasks and duties as well as review symptoms experienced and any other pertinent past medical history. Photographs may be taken to record any workstation issues. Our therapist will also provide specific education and exercise prescription to assist in management of the identified issues together with advice regarding appropriate aids and equipment. Our aim is to resolve and/or significantly improve symptoms which employees experience when at work and prevent the likelihood of aggravation occurring. |
