Kate AllcockKate is an Occupational Therapist who has experience working in mental health both within inpatient units and community based teams. Throughout such years Kate has been AMPS trained (Assessment of Motor and Process Skills); an assessment tool which evaluates ADL task performance. Kate’s expertise lies in co-ordinating groups, conducting assessments of independent living skills, developing graded programs for activities of daily living and de-escalating and managing aggression. In 2009 Kate furthered her counselling skills; completing the level 1 and 2 Narrative Therapy Training at the Dulwich Centre in Adelaide. Narrative Therapy is a therapy that seeks to be a non-blaming approach to counselling and community work, which centres people as the experts in their own lives. This may include an individual developing the belief that they can manage conflict, an illness or a disability or that they can be influential in making a difference to the health and safety of themselves and others within their place of employment. Kate has also been fortunate to extend her knowledge of the aboriginal culture when she had the opportunity of visiting indigenous communities in the APY (Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara) lands. |
