A strong core which is essentially the ‘trunk’ of the body - is the basis for all human movement and is very important when performing physical tasks at home or in the workplace. This 6 week exercise program focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine. Pilates heightens our body awareness which in turn improves our overall agility, flexibility and strength. Pilates is also beneficial for people with injuries, weak muscles and bad posture because it encourages them to strengthen problem areas in a controlled, low impact manner. A Registered Physiotherapist will provide a one hour session for groups of up to 15 people. This is a practical class that will teach participants how to use their deep abdominal musculature to provide a stable base of support throughout the spine. This in turn leads to a more effective and efficient platform to perform movement. |
