Ergonomic Design Consultation
Ergonomics refers to the fit of the work to the worker. Designing the hazards out of work tasks is the most effective way to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) and also aids in increasing productivity. Our team of Ergonomists and highly experienced Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists can assist in the physical design and modification of existing or new work areas and equipment in order to minimise the risk of injury.
Our expertise can be used when:
- Redesigning or installing a new work area*
- Modifying an existing piece of equipment to reduce the musculoskeletal risks associated with its use
- Purchasing a new piece of equipment to identify potential hazards and assess its usability
- Comparing a number of different tools / equipment items in order to select the best option in regards to ease of use
- Workers complain of discomfort performing a certain work task
Guidance and advice is provided in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, ergonomic guidelines and texts. Examples of some of our work have been undertaken in the following areas:
- Office computer workstations (individual or group)
- Reception areas
- Control rooms
- Mail rooms
- Work benches
- Seating and storage area of vehicles
- Trolley assessment
