Activity Challenge

At Pinnacle, we recognise that promoting physical activity in a workplace setting has many benefits such as;
  • Improving morale
  • Improving employee engagement
  • Improving team relationships
  • Reducing stress levels
  • Increasing energy levels.
A healthier and happier worker is fitter, more energetic, more attentive and more alert - and this naturally reduces sick days.

One way in which Pinnacle encourages physical activity in the workplace is through an Activity Challenge with the use of a Personal Activity Tracker. We have found that it can be a fun way to improve fitness and energy levels as well as create some ‘healthy’ competition around the workplace. Personal Activity Trackers come in the form of wristbands, watches or clip on devices. These devices track a range of data such as steps walked, distance travelled, calories expended, as well as monitoring sleep patterns. There are several types of Personal Activity Trackers on the market, many being able to connect to web accounts or various devices for more detailed information.

The devices are designed to help people achieve their fitness goals by making them more aware of how much activity they are performing on a day-to-day basis. They can be used as a motivator to make better health choices such as taking the stairs, interrupting prolonged sitting or walking the dog.

Implementing an Activity Challenge

  • Encourage people to increase their incidental activity
  • Set individual or team goals
  • Provide incentives for reaching these targets
  • Create challenges to encourage each other to go further.

Pinnacle health professionals can assist with your Activity Challenge by taking you through the program step by step. We can assist with goal setting, motivation and follow up support.
  • A standard 8 week program involves the following steps:
  • 30 minute Activity Challenge workshop run by Pinnacle and online health survey.
  • 20 minute individual goal setting session run by Pinnacle’s Exercise Physiologist.
  • Follow your goal setting guide and start exercising. Make the most of the Pinnacle health resources and the weekly contact from our Exercise Physiologist.
  • Submit your exercise and sleep progress to Pinnacle on a weekly basis for 6 weeks.
  • Compare your progress from start to finish by completing the survey. We want to find out if this
  • initiative had an impact on your health.
  • 20 minute individual follow up review to plan additional goals.
